I am looking at getting JetBackup and have a couple questions. First thank you for taking the time to response.
1 - I am seeing very slow backups using the compress daily Full Backup with the WHM native backup. It seems to take forever during the "Creating Archive" process for each account. Does JetBackup handle these backups any faster. I am seeing a small account of only 2G take 1 minute to backup, yet 24 minutes to create the archive. The /backup directory being used is stored on a separate drive on the server.
2 - Does JetBackup have their own servers to send the backup or do you only have the option of putting them on a local drive or 3rd party cloud offering?
3 - If storing files locally, are the files smaller than the ones created by the WHM native backup with compressed or the same?
4 - It appears JetBackup supports different drives for jobs (which I assume each job is a backup configuration). If this is true, can you have one drive for weekly backups and another for the daily incremental or must the incremental be on the same drive as the full backup?
Thank you

Re: WHM/cPanel and JetBackup compared to WHM Backup
Hello cpubum,
Thank you for your interest in JetBackup!
https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.3/adminpa ... ation.html
To compare backup sizes, you can check them directly in JetBackup by navigating to Accounts > View Backups > Size. This will give you an exact view of how much space your backups are using.
https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.3/adminpa ... pJobs.html
If you would like to try JetBackup 5, we have a 10-day free trial in the link below.

We hope this helps answer your questions!

To clarify, JetBackup allows users to customize backup and destination settings to enhance performance. You may find more information on this in our documentation HERE1 - I am seeing very slow backups using the compress daily Full Backup with the WHM native backup. It seems to take forever during the "Creating Archive" process for each account. Does JetBackup handle these backups any faster. I am seeing a small account of only 2G take 1 minute to backup, yet 24 minutes to create the archive. The /backup directory being used is stored on a separate drive on the server.
JetBackup doesn't provide storage. Instead, JetBackup allows users to select from a wide selection of destinations for their backup storage. Here is a list of supported destinations:2 - Does JetBackup have their own servers to send the backup or do you only have the option of putting them on a local drive or 3rd party cloud offering?
https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.3/adminpa ... ation.html
Compressed backups in JetBackup 5 typically use less storage but may take longer to generate. The exact size depends on the settings configured in the Compressed Backup Job.3 - If storing files locally, are the files smaller than the ones created by the WHM native backup with compressed or the same?
To compare backup sizes, you can check them directly in JetBackup by navigating to Accounts > View Backups > Size. This will give you an exact view of how much space your backups are using.
JetBackup allows users to configure how the backups will be generated according to their needs. You may create separate jobs for different backup destinations. Kindly refer to our documentation below for a detailed explanation regarding Backup Job Configurations.4 - It appears JetBackup supports different drives for jobs (which I assume each job is a backup configuration). If this is true, can you have one drive for weekly backups and another for the daily incremental or must the incremental be on the same drive as the full backup?

Re: WHM/cPanel and JetBackup compared to WHM Backup
Thanks Trenton.
Did not see this in the docs... If I do tar backups and not compression and have the weekly FULL BACKUPS on /backup-weekly and do the incrementations daily on another drive (mount) called /backups-incremental will I still be able to restore the account fully from the FULL and incremental backup even though they are on a different drive mount on the server or do they need to be all on the same drive/mount?
If so when restoring a site from scratch, will it automatically pull in the FULL BACKUP followed by the required incremental backups to complete the restore or do I have to manually restore the FULL and then restore each incremental backups.
If I have to restore the FULL backup then the each incremental, how does it handle files that were removed like emails between the FULL BACK and incremental? Is this done automatically since the file is no longer on the account between incrementals?
Thanks again!

Re: WHM/cPanel and JetBackup compared to WHM Backup
Hello cpubum,
JetBackup Incremental Backups will generate a full backup on its first initial run and then proceed to back up any changes in the subsequent runs. Restoring incremental backups will automatically apply the necessary full and incremental data.
https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.3/adminpa ... b-behavior
JetBackup will restore the incremental backup on top of the full backup. Additionally, you can choose specific items to restore along with the backup date, providing a more flexible restore process.
https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.3/adminpa ... ml#restore
Please let us know if you have any further questions!
We do have a technical support team available 24/7/365 to assist in any JetBackup-related issues. You can contact our Support Team by emailing [email protected].
