In a new server install Jebackup and using existing backups of old server

Post by castris »

Hello.

I need to migrate the content from a cPanel server running on CentOS 7 to a new cPanel on Ubuntu 22.04:

  • The current server has more than 8 TB of backups from JetBackup 5.
  • Is it possible, after migrating the accounts from one server to another, to install JetBackup 5 on the new server, configure the destinations by setting them to the ones existing on the old server, and then reindex?

Hello castris,

You are able to add the same destination in JetBackup 5 on the new server as long as the backup directory is not the same.

If you wish to use the backups from the old server contained on that destination, you will need to add the destination as a read-only destination in the new server with the same backup directory path used in the old server.

If the accounts do not exist on the new server, they can be viewed as Orphan Accounts from the Accounts page in JB5.

If the accounts do exist on the new server, then their UUIDs will need to be reassigned from the Accounts page in order to view the backups.

I hope this information helps!
