Jetbackup5 Settings Import/Export

Post by reclaimchris »

Hello,

We've previously been using Jetbackup4 across our servers, and are looking into using Jetbackup5 for future setups. To copy jobs and other settings, we would export the configuration from an existing server:

Code: Select all

jetbackup --export
And import it onto the new server:

Code: Select all

jetbackup --import /path/to/file.tar.gz
We would like to do something similar with Jetbackup5 and have checked the documentation, but were unable to find a similar command. Is there something we are overlooking, and if not, will this functionality be added?

Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out through our forums.

At this time, JetBackup 5 does not have an export/import configuration feature like the previous JetBackup 4. We do have an internal request to have this feature added in future versions of JetBackup 5 but do not currently have an ETA for this. With that being said, to quickly configure new JetBackup 5 servers with your desired configurations, we would recommend using the JetBackup 5 JETAPI to help automate the process. You can find details about all our JETAPI calls here: JETAPI Documentation

I'd also like to urge you to open a feature request at JetBackup Feature Requests as gaining a high number of votes for requests helps our team gauge the demand and assess how to best allocate our development resources towards features that are popular with the JetBackup community.

If you have any questions about a specific JETAPI call/its usability, please let us know. Be sure to also keep an eye on our new Release Notes Blog and JetBackup 5 Changelog as these will be the best way to see when a new feature has been released.
Best Regards,

Hi Richard,

Thank you for the response. I've gone ahead and submitted a feature request for this functionality, and will look further into the API in the meantime.

I find it incomprehensible that a settings transfer tool (export / import) hasn't been created for JB5. From the start!

As a company specializing in backups, this is ludicrous.

Pushing us to the API is just lazy. At the VERY LEAST, give us an example of how to import those settings.

You HAVE to to do better for your customers.

Hello Joker,

Thank you for your feedback. We do have an Import/Export tool for JB5 that is available on v5.3.5 BETA/EDGE. For more information on this feature, please refer to our documentation.

https://docs.jetbackup.com/v5.3-BETA/ad ... Backup%205

We greatly appreciate your continued interest and support for JetBackup!

Thank you,
