Backblaze for JB5

Hi! Is Backblaze working correctly in the latest versions of JetBackup5? Some time ago, it was very unstable (some days it worked, some not). Is this fixed in the new versions?

If not, any other -not so expensive- option you can recommend for a 2 TB backup? Rsync.net maybe? (although way more expensive than Backblaze or Wasabi).

Thanks!

Hello fbarajas,

Thank you for your continued interest in JetBackup 5's S3 Compatible Plugin. Our current STABLE version of JetBackup 5 (v5.1.12) has had many improvements made towards the Indexing Engine and a majority of users have no issues with the S3 Plugin/BackBlaze. The new HTTP Retries allows JetBackup to retry uploads to the Destination whenever receiving an intermittent error, making the overall use much more stable. You can see all updates that have been made to the S3 Compatible Destination Plugin here: JetBackup 5 Plugins Changelog. For a more general overview of the new changes in v5.1.12 please visit our Release Notes: JetBackup Version 5.1.12 Release Notes. With that being said, we still have our S3 Compatible Plugin marked as Experimental as our developers are working on other known issues. As you may know, the Indexing Engine used for the S3 Compatible Plugin will be the base for new Destination Plugins in future releases and we expect this to be stable within the next 3 - 6 months.

Some alternatives we have seen other users recommend are SSH Destinations to Rsync.net or Hetzner Storage Box. You can find links to these vendors within our SSH Documentation.

Hello AustinNorth,

May you clarify which link is inaccessible for you? If SSH Destinations like rsync.net or Hetzner Storage Box do not work for you. Another S3 Vendor we can recommend is Wasabi Cloud Storage which offers a free 30-day trial here: https://wasabi.com/

This vendor would be configured as a JetBackup S3 Compatible Destination. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
