Thanks for the reply. If you had read my message you would have seen I had mentioned I was logged in as root and as super user. Form some reason the su command was not sufficient. The solution was to run the command as follows:
sudo sh /etc/jetserverbackupsmanager/uninstall
That resolved the issue.
